When querying the booker's credit card data in the WBE, a form for the credit card information will appear at the end of the booking procedure. By means of this input form, the credit card information will be sent to the protel Tokenizer which will then replace it with a replacement number (token). This encrypted data is then visible in protel FO instead of the actual credit card information. In case cancellation fees or other costs are to be charged to the guest's credit card, the payment can be done by means of the token.

Note To use the credit card query, please contact protel Support or your support partner so that we can set up the protel Tokenizer for you. |
In this chapter, you will learn about how to create payment types for credit cards in protel SD and how to operate the protel Tokenizer.
Create a new method of payment in protel SD especially for the WBE for each credit card type you would like to offer your guests.
Open the dialog Methods of payment: (menu Bookkeeping > Revenue and payments > Methods of payment) and click [New] to complete a new method of payment.

Important! It is important that you create a method of payment for the WBE for each credit card type in addition to the normal method of payment for the FO! |
protel SD > Bookkeeping > Revenue and payments > Methods of payment > New
The new method of payment will then appear in the overview:
protel SD > Bookkeeping > Revenue and payments > Methods of payment
After you have completed the method of payment for all types of credit cards which you would like to offer in your protel WBE, open the protel Cloud Center.
In order to be able to encrypt or decrypt credit card information in the protel Cloud Center, the following user rights are required:
There is at least one user administrator for each hotel in the cloud who is entitled to issue rights to fellow employees. This user already has both of these rights. The user administrator can issue these rights to additional employees, should they also need to have access to the credit card information.
Once all of the settings have been made, the form can be accessed in the WBE. When a booker in your WBE places a reservation into the cart, enters the booking data, and clicks the [Confirm and Pay] button, he will be directed to the credit card form.
The booker will then enter his credit card information once there. For example, this is what it could look like:
When the booker then clicks on the [Submit reservation] button, protel Tokenizer will encrypt the credit card information and send the token to the protel database.
Due to the encryption, you will not see the complete credit card information in protel Navigator anymore.
protel FO > Navigator
If you require the credit card information to charge the credit card, you will need to left-click the token. It will then be copied to the clipboard. Afterwards just open the tokenizer dialog box in the protel Cloud Center.
Open the PCI menu in the protel Cloud Center and select Detokenize.
In the next dialog insert the token from the clipboard by using <Ctrl>+<V> in the Token field.
Click on [Decrypt], the credit card information will be encrypted and displayed (see example figure). The token is displayed under Additional Data.
You will now again see the data which the booker had entered into the WBE form and can make charges the card.
You also have the possibility to use the protel Tokenizer to save the encrypted credit card data in protel, independent of protel WBE. In consistently using the protel Tokenizer, you are actively protecting your guest's credit card data.
The credit card token can be saved either in the guest profile, the reservations, or in both parts (profile and reservation). The location where the credit card token is going to be saved depends on whether or not you have entered the client's number or the reservation number or both together with the credit card data into the Tokenizer.
The client number can be found in the guest profile (in the displayed example 6310):
Guest template > Addresses
The reservation number can be found in the Navigator (in the shown example 27851):
protel FO > Navigator
To enter the credit card data open the PCI menu in the protel Cloud Center and select Tokenize.
In the next dialog enter the credit card data (fields with * are mandatory fields):
