Preparation

The protel WBE 4.0 is a web-based application, which is centrally hosted in the Cloud. This is beneficial for the hotel, as the webserver does not have to meet any specific requirements.

Current Browser: At least IE 8

The WBE 4.0 is compatible with all current browsers. Older versions are only partially supported (at least version 8 is required for the Internet Explorer).

Responsive design

WBE 4.0’s “Puremorning”, “Baroque” and “Vintage” designs are built using a responsive web design approach aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience: easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling across a wide range of devices (from mobile phones to desktop computer monitors).

When the WBE 4.0 mobile is de-activated, the responsive web page will be displayed. You can de-activate the WBE 4.0 mobile in the XSetups of the WBE in the protel Cloud Center.

To do so open the Channel information from the menu "Online Booking", click on the "WBE" folder and select the tab "XSetup":

protel Cloud Center > Online Booking > Channel information > WBE > XSetup

Set the value "true" for the XSetup "NoMobile" to de-activate the mobile version of the WBE 4.0.

Fluid design

“Liquid” layout is designed to put the WBE 4.0 into a container within a web page, and is designed to be fluid.

WBE Key

For the implementation of the WBE 4.0 you need an API key. The WBE key has to be configured in two files: In the index.html of the WBE 4.0 and in the index.html of the WBE 4.0 Mobile. When you have downloaded the WBE files from the protel Cloud Center, the API key is already entered in both files. Without the API key the style sheets and HTML files can't be used on the website.

protel Web Services

Before setting up the WBE 4.0 please check if the protel Web Services have been installed either in the hotel or in the computer center. The protel Web Services make sure data in the Cloud and protel are synchronized. In order for the WBE to be able to access the required data in the Cloud, the protel Web Services need to be installed.

HTML files and style sheets

The required files for the WBE 4.0 are available in the protel Cloud Center. Please have a look at the chapter Files and elements to read where to download the WBE files.

Date and currency format

The format for dates and the currency is preset for your WBE. Whenever a guest changes the language in the WBE, the format of the date and the currency is automatically adjusted accordingly. This function is hard coded. Please note that only the currency format is changend, not the currency itself (e.g. "150,00 €" or "150.00 €").

Integrate social networks login

If you would like your guests to be able to sign in to the WBE 4.0 with their login data from social networks, you will have to integrate the appropriate API keys. How to create API keys:

Google

To create an API key you will first require a Google account. Go to the following website to create an API key:

Please note:

The setting for “redirect” has to remain blank.
In the setting “JavaScript origins” please enter the URL (where necessary also for https) under which your WBE 4.0 is accessible.

Facebook

If you have a Facebook login, you can create an API key for Facebook. Go to the following page and create the key:
